ABOUT THE JOB

Fellowship Chapel is seeking a qualified man who senses the ‘call of God’ upon his life to join us as a full-time paid senior/teaching pastor and elder.  This man must be a humble servant who manifests the life of Christ, meets the biblical qualifications of a church elder (1 Tim. 3: 1-7 and Titus 1:6-9), and aligns with our Statement of Faith.  The pastor must be devoted to rightly dividing the Word, have a historical, contextual, grammatical, literal interpretation of the Bible and have a dispensational viewpoint.  The pastor will serve as the primary preacher/teacher for church worship services, as well as take the lead on daily business operations, and collaborate with the church elders in shepherding the flock and leading the church’s ministries. The pastor will serve alongside several elders, deacons, ministry heads, and gifted Bible teachers who are active members of the church. 

 

ROLE

The ideal candidate will be motivated, self-driven, and equipped to serve and collaborate with the elders and deacons of Fellowship Chapel. He must have a mindset of strengthening and maturing the congregation through solid teaching and discipleship. He will serve as the primary preacher/teacher for Sunday morning worship services and other special services and may be asked to teach or facilitate other classes or studies. He will provide leadership in the capacities of administration, planning, organization, connection, and communication for Christ’s exaltation and for the church’s edification. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and deliver Sunday morning worship service messages

  • Daily administration of church business and provide supervision and leadership to church staff

  • Coordinate with worship team leaders and provide constructive feedback and guidance

  • Perform weddings, funerals, baby dedications and believer baptisms

  • Work with elders and deacons to provide guidance and leadership to church ministries and events

  • Provide pastoral and premarital counseling and care as appropriate

  • Act as church liaison to community businesses/organizations

  • Work with church elders and ministry heads to establish annual budget priorities

  • Attend professional development/pastoral enrichment opportunities 

  • Identify ministry priorities and provide guidance when establishing new ministries

  • Help identify spiritually gifted members of the church body who are suited for ministry and leadership

  • Provide consistent church-wide communication to promote involvement, encouragement, and unity of the body

Personal Qualifications

  • Rightly handles the “Word of Truth” with the ability to discern, interpret, exegete, and apply Scripture

  • Senses the call of God to pastorally serve, if God wills, at Fellowship Chapel 

  • Ordained by a like-minded body, or formally recommended by elders of a like-minded body

  • If married, manifest a Biblical marriage with a supportive wife/family 

  • Aligns with the Constitution of Fellowship Chapel without reservation

  • Have a discipleship mentality in ministry

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Advanced theological training or the pursuit thereof is desired

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a pastor – preferred

  • Able to clearly deliver the gospel and teach God’s Word 

  • Experience in preparing/delivering messages

  • Experience in leading ministry teams

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats

Character Qualifications 

  • New creation in Christ by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9)

  • Demonstrates a love of God and the body of Christ (Mark 12:29-31)

  • Prayer-oriented, humble, servant leadership style (Mark 10:45; Philippians 2:5; II Corinthians 4:5)

  • Devoted to Christ, manifesting the life of Christ as an example to other believers (I Timothy 4:12)

  • Adheres and submits himself to the Word of God as the final authority in life and pastoring (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

  • Displays spiritual maturity and godly character

  • A collaborative teachable attitude with elders, deacons, and family at Fellowship Chapel
